House Extension | Le Touquet-Paris-Plage, France | 2022
[HUGO CHAUWIN ARCHITECTURE]

The project is inserted on the ground in a soft way, by respecting at most the existing altimetries. The extension is connected to the main house by an exterior corridor covered in black stained wood siding.

The volume is positioned below the road, which minimizes its visual impact from the street and to best fit the natural terrain. The simple volume, with a flat roof, opens onto the garden through large windows on the south side and onto a large terrace on the east side. The existing terrace is extended to create a large convivial space directly linked to the garden.

This terrace has a central place, and all the spaces revolve around it. Vertical openings punctuate the western facade, and allow to keep a sought-after intimacy. On the contrary, the southern and eastern facades are very open to the garden.

The access is made between the two volumes, by a rough concrete staircase which serves on one side the extension and on the other the main house. The path between the two houses is covered and lit.

The volume is designed in such a way that it is very easy to move from one space to another, thanks to the exterior walkway and the terrace. The roof band and the facades are treated in black and white brick for the sake of homogeneity. This project responds to simple volumetric criteria while creating large outdoor spaces.
