LAAGAM opens its first store outside of Spain in Amsterdam, featuring a space designed by the art, design, and architecture collective Casa Antillón. Located at Heiligeweg 39, the project translates the identity of the Barcelona-based brand into a distinct architectural language that engages with the city and its built environment. True to the brand’s vision, the retail space is conceived as a spatial experience in which interior design does not merely decorate, but rather amplifies and extends LAAGAM’s identity: every element within the space becomes part of the brand’s narrative.

The concept
The project is based on a series of planes and structures that appear to lean against or fall onto one another, like domino tiles or a deck of cards. From this gesture—the idea of unstable balance, of elements that support each other—the entire space is organized, generating a sequence that repeats and transforms throughout the store.

The interior is composed of inclined walls, geometric structures, and luminous surfaces that create a sense of continuous movement. It is not a static space: each angle offers a different perspective, inviting visitors to move through it as if exploring an installation. These light-walls also function as dividing elements, fragmenting the store into successive sections. As visitors progress deeper into the space, each turn reveals a new environment, creating a journey of gradual discovery where a sense of surprise accompanies every step.

A dialogue with Amsterdam
The project establishes a natural relationship with the city itself: in Amsterdam, many historic buildings display slight inclinations, the result of their foundations resting on wooden piles and soft ground. What appears inside the store as an intentional design gesture unexpectedly resonates with the architecture of the urban environment, creating a subtle connection between the space and its context.

The collaboration
The relationship between LAAGAM and Casa Antillón began with the opening of the Madrid flagship last October. To mark the occasion, LAAGAM reimagined its iconic No Boyfriend shirt—the garment with which the brand was founded in 2017—in an exclusive edition featuring star motifs as a nod to the Madrid flag. Building on this piece, Casa Antillón reinterpreted its Conical Lamp to merge fashion and interior design into a unique design object, which has presided over the store’s interior during its first months of opening as a symbol of the connection between the city and LAAGAM’s identity.

In Amsterdam, the collective evolves its language towards a more geometric and kinetic approach, adapted to a more intimate ground-floor space of approximately 55 sqm. The store is located on Heiligeweg, a street connecting Kalverstraat with Leidsestraat, where brands such as & Other Stories, Diesel, AllSaints, and American Vintage operate—forming a contemporary retail axis in the heart of the Dutch capital.
