The Sales Modules project for Concón Maderas is conceived as a small experimental building that explores the constructive, spatial, and expressive possibilities of impregnated timber within a demanding, highly exposed industrial context. More than a simple point of sale, the commission sought to transform a functional program into an architectural piece capable of representing the company’s craft and products.

Located in the industrial area at the southern entrance of Llanquihue, alongside Route 5 South, the project is set within an environment dominated by large hard surfaces, warehouses, and constant traffic, where human scale and permanence are often overlooked. In response to this hostile setting, the challenge was to design a recognizable, accessible, and inviting building, with a limited budget and tight construction schedule, capable of functioning both as a sales space and as an active showroom for the company’s own products.

The building, comprising approximately 55 m² of interior space plus terraces, is organized around an access platform with a universal-access ramp, stair, and a central terrace that articulates the program. On one side are the sales area, an office, a restroom, and a product display space; on the other, a more private sector for staff, including a dining area, restroom, and storage.

The architectural proposal is structured around a regular and repetitive construction system that simultaneously defines the structure, envelope, and expression of the building. An entirely impregnated timber solution was adopted, using evenly spaced timber columns whose diameter matches that of their foundations.

Planed and impregnated timber is used for the structure, cladding, and ceilings, allowing the building to function as a built showcase of the company’s products. The project was completed within a total construction period of three months.

The project highlights a simple, efficient, and replicable construction system, particularly suited to the climate of southern Chile. Text description by the architects.
