A house in between planes: a spatial interplay of precisely placed, space-defining planes and the flowing sequences of rooms that unfold between them. Along the street, the façades consistently follow the building line and develop bay projections on the upper floors, subtly rhythmizing the building edge. At the street corner, setback greenery is deliberately omitted; instead, a neighborhood square is created as a public gathering space that accentuates the urban situation and strengthens the building’s address.

Toward the southeast, on the quieter side away from traffic noise, the façade length is maximized to make optimal use of the calmer orientation and to fully exploit the qualities of the adjacent green space. To the south, the building directly connects to the existing neighboring structure, thereby completing the built edge.

The house is articulated by vertical, solid planes between which a light, open structure unfolds. This interplay of solidity and lightness gives the building its multifaceted character. The lighter structure enables carefully framed views and shapes the internal spatial organization. Facing the street, the façade is structured by ribbon windows and bay projections. This provides the living spaces with the necessary distance from the street while maintaining privacy without losing their connection to the public realm.

The staircase serves two compact apartments per floor. A central wall zones, orients, and defines the spaces, enabling versatile spatial relationships within a small footprint. The bathroom can be almost entirely opened up to allow new spatial configurations. The building is crowned by a shared rooftop terrace for all residents. Text description by the architects.
