Bâtiment d’accueil du château

Location: Montségur, France
Year: 2023
Architects: Bernard Quirot architecte + associés + Atelier APA
Photography by: Bastien Treille

The reception building is designed as a cavity dug into the slope so that it is invisible from the castle. Like a mountain refuge, it is robust, discreet and modest. It does not disrupt the perception of the site, but guides the visitor and offers an initial view before beginning the ascent to the castle. It disappears completely when visitors reach the top and contemplate the landscape below. Text description by the architects.
